Staff
All of our staff are qualified, professional practitioners.
Management are qualified to Degree level with a BA (Hons) in Childcare and Education.
We have a staff ratio of 1:8 for children over 3 years old; 1:6 for children between 2-3 years old and 1:3 for children under the age of 2 years. We tend to have more staff than we need because in addition we employ an apprentice at each setting and we have access to students from nearby colleges and universities studying childcare courses.
All Playaway staff are DBS checked. We are committed to recruiting, appointing and employing staff in accordance with all relevant legislation. Playaway is an equal opportunities employer.
Key person system
We operate a key person system at Playaway which means that each member of staff is designated a small group of children. They are responsible for observations, monitoring, and keeping progress and development records up to date. All our nurseries have a small, dedicated, hardworking team of staff who will get to know your child and become their friend, carer and build trusting relationships with yourself and your child.
Settling In
Our staff will help your child to settle into the nursery over the period of a week. We encourage parents to stay with their child on the first day so we can collect information about their dietary requirements, potty training, feeding/sleeping routines and any special medical or educational needs. This means that we will get to know your child, and you will get to know us by offering you short sessions of 1-2 hours to start with, and then gradually building up the amount of time your child stays in the nursery without you. Settling In starts the week before their full sessions begin and you do not need to pay separately for your settling in days.
